Pens created in collaboration & exclusively for us by Aurora Waves
based in Stronsay, Orkney. We loved the heart felt story of the creator Lee & his family & how he learnt a craft as a therapy. This inspired him & ultimately his family to pursue a new lifestyle & develop a business in Orkney. We love our 'Inspiration'
pens as writing is also a passion of ours. To write with a beautiful hand crafted pen in our colour palette is very special. These individual pens made uniquely by hand means no two pens are ever the same. Therefore, making them a unique gift for any occasion.
FACT:All our 'Inspiration' Pens are Black ink & come boxed with a Teal ribbon. They measure approx. 13cm in length & have a twist action. We also have refills available.
About Aurora Waves:
Lee learned the craft of lathe turning during his time at Help for Heroes Recovery Centre in Colchester, Essex. As an injured Veteran who has served in some very ‘noisy and busy’ places, Lee found calm and tranquillity from creating something so intricate from a basic block of wood or acrylic on the lathe. He was guided by professional members of the Colchester Woodturning Club and has since become a member of the Association of woodturners of Great Britain. The Calmness of designing and creating enabled Lee and our family to commence the moving process to a small Orkney Island where calm and tranquillity can surround us on a daily basis.
It is here that Aurora Waves
was born.
A few words from our makers - Lee & Shani
'When we communicated with Jo about Aurora Waves, we very quickly got to know her and everything she was trying to achieve with her dream, Inspired by Orkney. Jo’s initiative during the pandemic to launch such a fabulous one stop shop for unique items whose creators are literally Inspired by Orkney simply won our hearts.
Jo asked if we would consider a collaboration for a bespoke pen for her gift range. After creative discussions we came up with the perfect pen to represent both ours’ and Jo’s love of Orkney’s natural colour range.
The colours of the seas surrounding Orkney are ever changing but one of our favourites in the range is the deepest of the teals. When looking at the collaboration concepts we listened to Jo’s music
which seemed to reflect the calming colours we were working with.
The collection of Pens created for Jo is simply named, ‘Inspiration’
